Man with a van prices in Southampton
Every man with a van price in Southampton is worked out for your job: your postcodes, your van and the time you need. This page explains what the price covers, what pushes it up or down, and how paying works.
Nothing is taken until your driver confirms. Pay them the rest when the job is done.
How you get a price
Enter both postcodes and how long you need the driver for loading and unloading. The form lists the local drivers who cover your job, each with their price for each van they have, cheapest first. You can see roughly where each driver is based and whether they can bring a helper. Pick one and you see the price for your job before you book anything.
There is no rate card on this site, on purpose. Each driver sets their own prices, and a figure printed here would only be a guess at yours. The form gives you the real one in about a minute.
What the price covers
- The drive. From the driver's base to your pickup, on to the drop-off, and back. It is included in the price you see. Within the city it is short. On a move out of the area it is the biggest part.
- Loading and unloading. The time you choose for the driver at each end. On a local job this is most of the cost.
- The van. Medium, Large or Extra large, which is a Luton. Bigger vans cost more.
- A helper, if you pick one. Some drivers can bring a second person, and the price with the helper is shown before you book.
Two things sit outside the price. If loading runs over the time you booked, extra time is charged at the driver's rate, which the form shows before you book. And tolls or parking charges on the day are paid on top.
What changes the price
- Loading time is the biggest lever on a local job. Packed boxes, dismantled beds and a clear path to the door all cut it.
- Van size. The van sizes page helps you pick without guessing. A bigger van costs a little more but less than a second trip.
- Distance. A longer drive adds to the price, and the form includes it.
- Which driver you pick. Prices differ between drivers, and a driver based near your pickup often comes out cheaper.
- A helper adds to the price but often saves loading time on heavy jobs.
How to keep the cost down
Pack everything before the van arrives and label boxes by room. Take beds and flat-pack furniture apart the night before. Sort the parking at both ends so the van can stop by the door; the parking guide explains bay suspensions and controlled zones. Book honestly for the stairs and the number of boxes, because running over costs more than booking the right time. And if you have friends who can carry, loading goes faster and you can book less time.
Deposit and paying the driver
When you book, a deposit is held on your card to secure the slot. Nothing leaves your account until your driver confirms. If they can't do it, another local driver is offered the job. If nobody can, the hold is released and you pay nothing. You pay the rest to your driver when the job is done, by cash or bank transfer.
Why there are no typical prices on this page
Many sites publish an average price for a man with a van in Southampton. We don't, because bookings here are still few and an average would mislead you. Most local jobs here are small: one or two hours of loading, a Medium van, a short drive across the city. Student moves are a big share of what we do in Southampton, including end-of-term runs home. Put your own postcodes into the form and you will see real prices for your job.
